Loders Hill

Standing at 157 metres, this modest hill offers surprisingly good views across the Bride Valley and out towards the Dorset coast. The walk up from Loders village takes about 20 minutes through fields and farmland - nothing too challenging, though it can get muddy after rain. From the summit, you'll see Bridport spread out below and, on a clear day, glimpses of the sea beyond.

Walkers will find it a pleasant afternoon stroll rather than a proper hike. Families with older children should manage fine, though the youngest might find it a bit of a slog. The real appeal is the 360-degree views once you reach the top - well worth the effort on a decent day.

Being open countryside, there's no admission fee and you can visit any time. Allow about an hour for the round trip, longer if you fancy a proper sit-down at the top. The hill works well as part of a West Dorset walking holiday - several holiday parks around Bridport like West Bay Holiday Park and Highlands End Holiday Park put you within easy reach. Just don't expect dramatic peaks here; this is gentle Dorset countryside at its most understated.
