Toddlers might get bored after thirty minutes, but primary school age upwards will find plenty to do - climbing opportunities, things to prod with sticks, the usual. Adults after a proper woodland wander will get something genuine here rather than a theme-park nature experience.

There's no charge and no fixed hours that we can find, which means it works perfectly as a flexible morning or afternoon slot alongside a park-based holiday. Fir Tree Campsite sits just 2.9 miles away and Newton Grove even closer mentally - both cracking bases if you're after proper Oxfordshire countryside without the twee factor. Allow ninety minutes minimum if you're actually exploring rather than just walking through. Go when it's not dripping wet unless you enjoy squelching.
