About Lund Park
The reserve itself is a patchwork of heathland and grassland, managed specifically for ground-nesting birds and upland plants. You'll see lapwing and curlew if you time it right - spring is best for spotting them - and the ridge-top walking is properly good. On a clear day you get views across the Worth Valley, which beats a lot of the more famous spots round here. Allow two to three hours if you're doing a decent loop; less if you just want a quick wander.
Families with older kids who actually like walking will get more from this than those wanting playground facilities or ice cream vans. It's free, as nature reserves should be. The ground can be boggy even after rain has stopped, so proper boots matter.
Stay at Woodsworth Exploring or Tip Top Campsite - both are minutes away - and you've got Brontë country, the Worth Valley Railway, and decent pub walks all within easy reach. Lund Park is the bit where you remember why you came to Yorkshire in the first place.
