Meana Park

A short drive inland from Bude's coastal bustle, Meana Park is a proper nature reserve where you can actually hear yourself think. It's the kind of place where the main point is watching wildlife and walking through unspoiled countryside rather than ticking off attractions. Think woodland paths, open grassland, and the occasional bird of prey if you're lucky enough. The reserve isn't massive - you won't need more than an hour or two to explore it properly - but it's genuinely quiet, which counts for a lot when everywhere else in North Cornwall is rammed with families.

This is for people who want a reset rather than a spectacle. Walkers will appreciate the trails. Birdwatchers should bring binoculars. Kids do fine if they're the type who enjoy spotting things rather than demanding play equipment every five minutes.

It's free to access - no entry fee, no gift shop nonsense - which feels increasingly rare. Admission details aren't always easy to track down online, so it's worth ringing ahead from Bude to check current access arrangements.
