It's quietly powerful rather than sensational. The curators have avoided the gothic "mad asylum" tropes you might expect and instead created something respectful and genuinely educational. Most visitors spend between 90 minutes and two hours here. The opening hours are limited - Tuesday to Thursday, 1pm to 4pm - so you'll need to plan around that, and it's worth ringing ahead if you're making a special trip.
