Millom Ironworks Local Nature Reserve

The old ironworks at Millom tells the story of industrial grit meeting nature's quiet reclamation. What was once a roaring steelworks is now a local nature reserve where you can actually see the landscape healing itself - ponds where furnaces used to roar, wildflowers taking over slag heaps, lapwings and redshank working the wetland margins.
