Monmouth Community Hub is essentially a proper working library tucked into the town center - not the sort of place you'd plan a day trip around, but absolutely worth popping into if you're based at one of the nearby campsites around Coleford. It's a functional space: books, computers, quiet reading areas, the usual library fare. Staff are helpful and it's genuinely free to use.

Who actually gets something from it? Families with younger kids will find it useful for rainy afternoons - there's usually a small children's section. Walkers passing through the area can grab local maps or check weather forecasts on the computers. Campers staying at Bracelands or Greenacres Campsite who've forgotten a book for the evening will appreciate having this five minutes away.

The opening hours are a bit fragmented - closed Thursdays and Sundays entirely, which is worth noting if you're planning around a specific day. Wednesday and Tuesday afternoons are your best bet if you need proper access. Allow twenty minutes to half an hour unless you're genuinely settling in with a book.

It works best as part of a wider Monmouth visit rather than a standalone stop. The town itself has decent walks to Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley nearby. If the weather turns foul during a camping holiday in the Forest of Dean area, it's a sensible place to know exists - but don't bank on it being a highlight.
