Families with younger kids might find it a bit dry after thirty minutes unless they're already into that period. The real draw is context - you'll understand the town better after visiting, which matters if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Tranwell Farm Holidays or Hillside Huts & Cabins.

Free entry, which is decent value. Allow 45 minutes to an hour without rushing. Go midweek if you can - weekends mean school groups. The location is brilliant for exploring Morpeth itself - the castle ruins are just across the bridge, and the town's got proper character. If you're basing yourself at either holiday park for a week, this fits well into a day pottering around the town centre rather than driving anywhere special.
