A field dedicated entirely to letting dogs off the lead and run about - Moulton Dog Walking Field is exactly what it says on the tin, nothing more, nothing less. It's a proper open space just outside Northampton where your dog can actually be a dog for once, chasing about without the worry of traffic or getting tangled in a lead.

The appeal here is straightforward. There's grass, there's space, and there are other dogs to socialise with. You'll see springer spaniels belting across the field like they've been let out of prison, and Border Collies doing that intense herding thing they do even when there's nothing to herd. Owners tend to cluster at one end, watching their animals burn off energy. It's the sort of place where your dog leaves utterly knackered and you get a proper walk in without having to navigate pavements.

Worth your time if you're staying locally with a dog - which you might be at Moon Valley Glamping Retreat, just a couple of miles away. Without a dog, frankly, there's not much point. No facilities that we know of, no cafe, no shop. Just field. On decent weather days it's busy with the local dog crowd; wet mornings feel quite peaceful.

Allow an hour if you've got a dog that needs a proper run. It's free, and it works best if your dog actually enjoys other dogs. If yours is the anxious type, you might find it overwhelming.
