National Trust - Cudden Point

The coastal path drops sharply at Cudden Point, and when you round the bend, you understand why the National Trust bothered to protect this stretch of Cornwall's south coast. It's a proper dramatic headland - all craggy cliffs and raw granite thrust up against the Atlantic, with views that stretch for miles on a clear day.

There's not much infrastructure here, which is rather the point. You get a clifftop walk, some serious geology on display in the rock formations, and the kind of windswept solitude that's becoming rare along this coast. The path itself is well-maintained and relatively straightforward, though it can be boggy after rain. Allow 45 minutes to an hour if you're just wanting to reach the point and take in the views - longer if you're the type to sit about with binoculars watching for seabirds.

Historically minded visitors will find this interesting mainly for its maritime context. Ships have floundered on these rocks, and you can almost feel that hazardous past just by standing there. It's free to access and open year-round, though winter winds can be fierce enough to knock you sideways.

If you're based at Foxglove Field Glamping near Prussia Cove, Cudden Point is basically on your doorstep - a brisk walk or short drive. St. Ives Holiday Village is further off, but still within reasonable reach for a half-day outing. Family groups with young children should manage it fine on a calm day, though the cliffs need respect. It's not a "spend all day" sort of spot, but it's genuine and unspoilt, which counts for a lot.
