About National Trust - Penbryn
The walk down takes a good fifteen minutes from the top, and it's steep enough that you'll notice it on the way back up. Worth it though. The sand is firm, the water's proper cold, and on a clear day you can see right along the coast. Families with young kids might struggle with the climb, but older children and walkers will find it excellent - there's something about having to earn your beach that makes it feel special.
It's free to visit, and there's no formal admission. Go early in summer or outside school holidays if you want any peace - this place fills up quickly once word gets out. Allow at least two hours including the walk and a proper paddle.
If you're camping at any of the nearby parks - Llety Caravan Park is closest at just 1.5 miles - Penbryn makes a brilliant afternoon excursion. The clifftop path connects to other coastal walks too, so you can chain together a longer route if you're feeling ambitious. This is proper coastal Wales: dramatic, unspoilt, and worth the detour from Cardigan.
