History types might appreciate that this valley has been worked by humans for centuries, but don't expect grand monuments - it's more subtle than that. There are spots to stop, some benches facing the water, the occasional café if you time it right.

The real gift here is how close it is to Nene Outdoors Campsite and Ferry Meadows, both practically on the doorstep. If you're camping in the area, you've got an obvious day's activity sorted. It works as a morning walk or an afternoon amble - two hours is enough to get a sense of it, but you could easily spend half a day here if you're in no rush. Free to access, no entrance fee, which makes it the kind of place you'll actually use rather than just look up online. Winter's quieter but perfectly pleasant. Summer gets busier, and the mosquitoes can be ambitious in July.
