North Beach

The stretch of sand at North Beach runs straight out from Bridlington's seafront, and it's the kind of place that works best when you're not expecting too much from it. The beach itself is functional rather than spectacular - wide when the tide's out, lined with the usual promenade infrastructure, and popular with families who've pitched up at one of the nearby caravan parks. South Shore Holiday Park sits practically on your doorstep if you're staying locally, which makes it convenient for a morning walk or to let the kids burn off energy between rainy spells.

The real appeal here is the straightforward seaside experience. There's a pier, amusement arcades, and the sort of fish and chips stands you'd expect from a proper Yorkshire seaside town. It's not dramatic - no towering cliffs or hidden coves - but that's actually fine. Families with young children will get a solid day out here. Walkers might find the promenade a decent stretch, especially if you head south towards the clifftop paths beyond the main beach. The water's cold as you'd expect from the North Sea, so paddling's the main activity rather than swimming.

Worth allowing a few hours if you're splitting your stay across multiple nearby parks like Haven Thornwick Bay or Parkdean Resorts Barmston Beach further along the coast. Go when the tide's out - you'll get more beach. Avoid peak school holidays unless you actively enjoy crowds.
