North Leverton Windmill

The windmill at North Leverton stands like a sentinel on the Nottinghamshire flatlands, just outside Retford - a proper Victorian brick tower mill that's impossible to miss once you know where to look. Built in 1839, it's one of those industrial relics that somehow feels less like a museum piece and more like something that could still grind grain if someone bothered to oil the sails.

You can see it from the lane, and there's usually a way to get reasonably close for photographs. The brickwork's held up remarkably well - that deep red Nottinghamshire brick that ages like wine.
