Old Bridge Meadow

The meadow spreads out flat and wide near Chichester, with an old stone bridge cutting through the middle - the kind of crossing that's probably been here longer than anyone can remember. It's straightforward enough: walk across, look at the water below, take in the countryside. The appeal is quiet and understated rather than dramatic.

This works best for people after a gentle stroll rather than a destination walk. You're looking at maybe twenty minutes to half an hour, depending on how long you dawdle. The bridge itself isn't particularly grand or architecturally showy, but it sits nicely in the landscape - proper rural Hampshire, the sort of place where you'll actually hear birdsong. Locals bring dogs here; families with younger children find it manageable because there's no steep terrain to worry about.

The real value comes if you're camped at one of the nearby sites - Concierge Camping sits just under a mile away, and The Old Dairy Farm Glamping or Chichester Lakeside are only a few miles out. It's the sort of spot you'd build into a longer walk rather than drive specifically to visit. Pair it with a proper hike elsewhere in the area if you want something with more meat on the bones.

Weather-wise, go when it's dry. Muddy meadow paths aren't anyone's idea of fun. Morning light is your friend here - the bridge and water catch it nicely before the sun gets high. No facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need.
