The Omniplex in Downpatrick is your local multiplex cinema - nothing fancy, but it does the job when you need a rainy afternoon sorted or fancy a proper night out without driving to Belfast. Standard screens showing current releases, decent popcorn, the usual cinema experience. It's the kind of place where families with restless kids can burn an hour or two, or where couples after something low-key can catch the latest blockbuster without faffing about.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Buckshill, Delamont Country Park, or Edgewater - and the weather turns grim, this is a solid backup plan. Downpatrick itself is worth a wander, proper market town feel, so you could easily make an evening of it: dinner somewhere local, then a film. Worth ringing ahead to check what's on and book tickets if you're visiting in peak season, though frankly it's rarely rammed.

Not a destination in itself, obviously, but absolutely the right option when you want to stay put for a few hours without being outdoors. Head to Delamont if you want something more active - that's only four miles away and offers far more to do - but on a wet Tuesday when spirits are flagging, the Omniplex will sort you.
