Families absolutely love this spot. The shallow waters here are perfect for paddling toddlers, while the wide sandy beach gives older kids plenty of room to run wild. Traditional Punch and Judy shows still pop up during summer months, and the Victorian shelter provides welcome respite when the weather turns.

What sets this end apart from the rest of Weymouth's lengthy beach is the elegant pavilion structure itself - a proper piece of seaside architecture that's survived decades of coastal battering. The views stretch right across Weymouth Bay towards Portland Bill, especially lovely at sunset.

Expect to spend a good half-day here if the weather's decent. Free to wander and explore, though parking can be a right pain during peak summer weeks. The spot works brilliantly as part of a longer Weymouth stay - you're minutes from the harbour and town centre, plus it's an easy drive back to any of the holiday parks dotted around Chesil Beach and Preston. Best visited outside school holidays if you want a bit of peace with your seaside stroll.
