Paw Paddock - Cuckfield

A modest green space in Cuckfield that locals clearly cherish more than passing visitors might expect. Paw Paddock is essentially a small community park - nothing grand, nothing particularly famous - but it does what it does well: gives dog owners a proper off-lead run and gives families a quiet spot for a picnic without the crowds you'd find at the larger Sussex attractions.

The space itself is straightforward. There's grass, some trees for shade, and enough room for dogs to actually move about properly. Kids might manage twenty minutes here before getting restless, so don't plan your entire afternoon around it. The real value is as a pit-stop if you're based nearby - say, at Blacklands Farm Caravan & Camping just down the road - or if you're walking through Cuckfield itself and want somewhere to let the dog burn off energy.

Cuckfield sits roughly between Haywards Heath and the wider Sussex countryside, which means it's easy to reach but feels like you've stepped away from the main drag. Worth knowing if you're tent camping at Blacklands and need an evening stroll or somewhere to tire out a hyperactive spaniel before bedtime.

Free to access, no facilities to speak of that I could find, and best visited outside peak times if you value peace. It's the sort of place locals know about and visitors overlook - which is fine. Not everything needs to be a destination. Sometimes a paddock is just a paddock.
