Peedie Sands

The beach at Peedie Sands feels like you've wandered off the map entirely. Timing matters here. Summer gives you the longest light, but even then the water's bracing. Winter? Honestly, you'd need to be fairly committed. There's no facilities right there, so bring what you need from Thurso. Allow an hour minimum including the walk, longer if you're actually getting in.

Staying at Little Croft Highlands just under four miles away puts you well-positioned for the north coast - this beach works as a casual afternoon outing rather than a day's main event. It's the kind of spot you stumble upon when exploring the area properly, not one you'd plan a full day around.
