Pembrey Circuit

The roar of engines carries across the Carmarthenshire marshes whether you're watching from the stands or camping nearby at Pembrey Country Park. This is a proper motorsports circuit - a 2.4-kilometre track that's been hosting racing since the 1970s, and it still pulls crowds for everything from club-level track days to national championships.

What you get depends entirely on what's on. Race weekends are electric - the atmosphere's genuinely good, the racing ranges from car clubs to serious competitive stuff, and the spectating is close enough to feel the speed. On quiet days you can drive your own car round it, which appeals to the track-day brigade. Families with older kids (teenage petrolheads especially) will find it worth a trip when there's racing on, though standing around in the Carmarthenshire wind watching practice sessions isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Admission and pricing varies by event - check their schedule before you go, as some days are closed to the public entirely. It's free to look around the paddock area on event days, though reserved seating costs extra. Allow two to three hours minimum if there's racing; less if you're just having a nose around.

For a park holiday, it works perfectly with Parkdean Resorts Carmarthen Bay or Shoreline just down the road. You've got Kidwelly town nearby for amenities, plus Pembrey Country Park itself is excellent for walking. The circuit makes a solid afternoon break from traditional seaside caravan life - gives you something different to do between the beach and the chip shop.
