The Peninsula Way Green Space unfolds along a coastal path that actually delivers on its promise - proper views across the water and enough woodland to make you forget Upwey's just up the road. The birdwatching here is genuine - winter brings in the serious twitchers, but even casual visitors spot more than a few interesting species year-round. The walking is straightforward enough for families, though the terrain can get muddy after rain.

Walkers will find this a natural extension of a stay at one of the local glamping spots. Green Valley Yurts, just four miles away, pairs brilliantly with a morning or afternoon here - you get the comfort of a decent cabin and genuine access to nature without feeling you've done time at a caravan park. Allow two to three hours if you want to do the full circuit properly, rather than rushing through.

Timing matters. Spring brings migrants and wildflowers in decent numbers. Summer's busy but manageable early on. Autumn's when the serious walkers come through. Winter clears the crowds and sharpens the light - if you don't mind the wind, it's actually the best season.
