About Pigeon's Cave

Rock formations jut dramatically from the coastline near Conwy, where centuries of waves have carved out this natural sea cave. Pigeon's Cave sits tucked into the cliffs, accessible at low tide when you can scramble over the rocky shoreline to peer inside its shadowy depths. The name comes from the countless seabirds that nest in the crevices above - expect a fair bit of noise and guano.

Families with older children who don't mind getting their boots wet will find this a proper adventure. The cave itself isn't massive, but exploring the tide pools and rock formations around it easily fills an hour or two. Check the tide times before you go - high tide makes access impossible and potentially dangerous.

No entrance fee, obviously, though you'll need to park in Conwy and walk along the coastal path. The scramble down isn't suitable for pushchairs or anyone with mobility issues. Best visited on a clear day when you can appreciate the views back towards Conwy Castle.

If you're staying at one of the holiday parks near Llandudno like Hafan y Gogarth or Aberconwy Resort, it's worth combining with a trip to Conwy's medieval walls and castle. The cave makes a good contrast to all that history - nature doing its own thing for millennia.
