Walking around takes perhaps 30 to 45 minutes depending on how much you want to linger. The terrain is uneven - proper terrain, not a manicured path - so reasonable boots help. You'll see alpine plants and mountain avens that shouldn't really exist this far south, which is the whole point of why Plantlife bothers protecting it. It's ideal for anyone genuinely interested in geology or botany; families with young kids might find half an hour enough, then get restless.

Admission is free, though donations support the conservation work. Spring and early summer are best for the plants themselves - otherwise you're admiring the bones of the landscape rather than seeing it dressed up. Given its proximity to Settle and the cluster of glamping pods around Malham and Ribblesdale, this works well as part of a broader Dales walking trip rather than a stand-alone destination.
