Private Land

Well, this is awkward. The clue's in the name - you can't actually visit this spot because it's on private land. Located somewhere near Charlestown, this particular landmark remains off-limits to the general public, which rather defeats the point of planning a day out around it.

Walking enthusiasts might spot it from public footpaths in the area, but don't expect to get up close for a proper look. The frustration of glimpsing something potentially interesting from a distance while being unable to explore it properly is real.

Frankly, unless you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Pentewan Sands or East Crinnis and fancy a walk that ends in disappointment, I'd give this one a miss. Charlestown itself offers far more accessible attractions - the working port and its period buildings are open to all and considerably more rewarding than squinting at something you can't reach.

Better to spend your time exploring the Lost Gardens of Heligan or wandering Charlestown's harbour, both of which welcome visitors with open arms rather than 'keep out' signs.
