Putlands Leisure Centre

Putlands Leisure Centre is Tonbridge's main sports hub - the sort of place you'd take the kids on a rainy afternoon or if someone's desperate for a swim. It's got a leisure pool, a competition pool, a gym, and various sports halls where locals play badminton, volleyball, and squash. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.

If you're camping nearby - and there are plenty of options within a few miles, from Colts Hill Glamping just down the road to Still Acres and Tanner Farm Park a bit further out - it's useful to know Putlands exists. Kids who've had enough of the outdoors can burn energy indoors, and if you want to keep fit while on holiday rather than abandoning the treadmill entirely, the gym's there.

The leisure pool is the main draw for families. It's got slides and shallow bits for younger swimmers, though don't expect anything as thrilling as a dedicated water park. Adults after a proper workout will gravitate towards the lap pool or the gym. Spectator sports aren't really the point here - it's participatory.

Before you head over, check their website or ring ahead for opening hours and admission prices, as these can shift seasonally. Tonbridge itself is compact and walkable, with decent pubs and cafes if you need to kill an hour while someone's in a lesson. Worth knowing about if you're based at one of the surrounding camping sites, but not worth plotting a route to if you're further afield.
