Ravenstone Road Copse

A proper woodland walk just outside Olney, Ravenstone Road Copse is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. It's a small mixed forest - nothing vast, nothing wildly dramatic - but it does the job if you're after an hour among the trees without travelling far from your caravan site.

The paths are decent enough underfoot, winding through a mix of deciduous and coniferous woodland. You'll see bluebells in spring if you time it right, and it's genuinely peaceful on a weekday. Don't expect dramatic vistas or ancient monuments. This is working woodland, honestly. The main appeal is just that - being in the trees, breathing properly, listening to actual birdsong instead of the A5.

Walkers will get the most from it. Kids can manage the terrain without complaint, though it's not thrilling enough to hold their attention for hours. If you're staying at Billing Aquadrome Holiday Park or Riverview Park nearby, it's an easy detour on a morning stroll. Combine it with a visit to Olney town centre - the lace museum and riverside walk are worth an hour - and you've got yourself a half-decent day.

It's free to access, no facilities to speak of, so bring water. Go on a dry day because the ground gets boggy quickly after rain. Early morning or late afternoon is best - fewer dog walkers cluttering the narrower paths. Not essential, but genuinely useful if you need to break up a park holiday with something green and quiet.
