Reptile World

Reptile World sits just outside Bewdley and is exactly what the name suggests - a zoo dedicated entirely to snakes, lizards, amphibians and other cold-blooded creatures. It's a surprisingly absorbing afternoon if you've got kids who aren't squeamish about scales and fangs. The enclosures are spread across the site, and you'll see everything from ball pythons to bearded dragons, tortoises to poison dart frogs. Some visitors find it a bit small compared to larger zoos, but that's sort of the point - you can work through it at your own pace without the crowds.

Families with primary school-aged children tend to get the most from it. Older teens might find it tame unless they're genuinely into herpetology. Adults often surprise themselves with how gripped they become by the feeding times and keeper talks. Allow two to three hours max.

Bewdley itself is on the Severn, so you're well positioned for riverside walks and the usual market town facilities. If you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks - Lickhill Manor and Hopleys are both within easy reach - Reptile World works nicely as a rainy-day activity or a half-day break from exploring the Wyre Forest and the wider Worcestershire countryside. The site is compact enough that you won't feel you've wasted money if it turns out reptiles aren't your thing, though admission details are worth checking ahead.
