Round Garden

Round Garden is a proper little nature reserve tucked away near Newquay, and if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Sunhaven is closest and actually well-regarded - it's worth a morning wander. The reserve itself is small, focused on protecting the local flora and the occasional visiting bird, so don't expect acres of manicured gardens. What you get instead is a chance to potter about looking at whatever plants are doing their thing that season, which appeals more to the botanically minded than to families wanting a theme park experience. Kids might get restless after twenty minutes or so, unless they're the type who enjoy spotting wildflowers and insects. Access details are a bit thin on the ground - opening hours and admission fees aren't widely advertised, so best check ahead before making the trip. That said, it's close enough to Newquay's beaches and the better-known holiday parks around Crantock that you could slot it in as a quieter alternative if the weather's decent and you fancy something low-key. The Cornish coast has plenty of bigger nature attractions and walks, so Round Garden works best as part of a broader day rather than a destination in itself. Allow an hour at most, more if you're genuinely interested in the plants.
