Walking into Round Lown Wood feels like stepping back into proper woodland - the kind where trees are genuinely old and the path doesn't feel like it's been Disney-fied. It's a small forest near Peterborough, manageable for an afternoon, and the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think. The woodland floor is thick with leaf litter and moss, and in spring the bluebells are genuinely worth timing a visit around. You'll want decent boots though - it gets muddy after rain, and there's nothing tragic about that, but it's worth knowing.
