You'll find this enclosed dog field just outside Higher Trekenning, run by the RSPCA as a proper safe space for dogs to burn off energy without leads. It's fenced all the way round - no chance of your dog legging it across the Cornish countryside. The setup is straightforward: open field, secure perimeter, room for dogs to run and play together if they're socialised. Your dog gets a proper go-round, and you get to stand about chatting with other dog owners who are equally relieved not to have their pooch bolting.

This is squarely for dog owners. No question. If your holiday plans involve your four-legged friend, this beats paying to hire a garden at half the nearby holiday parks. Kids tolerate it fine - watching dogs race about is never boring - but it's not a destination in itself. Allow half an hour, maybe up to an hour if your dog's knackered and you fancy the peace.
