Scottish Highlands cows

These aren't attractions in the conventional sense; they're simply part of the Highlands experience, wandering freely across the hills and glens where they've grazed for generations.

Their ancestors were bred to survive the harshest Scottish weather, and you can understand why when you see one standing unflinching in driving rain. Photographers have a field day. There's no visitor centre or entrance fee because they're simply here, doing what they've always done. You'll see them best on the wilder stretches of moorland between Keith and the surrounding glens - just drive slowly or walk the local paths and keep your eyes open. Early morning or late afternoon works best when they're more active.
