Sea Waterfall

Crashing waves meet sheer cliff face here, creating one of Cornwall's more dramatic coastal spectacles. The Sea Waterfall near Charlestown isn't your typical mountain cascade - it's where Atlantic swells hit the rocks with such force that spray shoots skyward in waterfall-like curtains. Worth the scramble down from the coast path, though mind your footing on the wet rocks.

Best visited during stormy weather when the sea's properly angry. In calm conditions it's frankly a bit underwhelming - just waves lapping at stones. Photographers love this spot for capturing that perfect spray shot, but you'll need a decent zoom lens unless you fancy getting soaked. The approach involves a fair bit of rock hopping, so definitely not buggy-friendly and probably too tricky for very young children.

Timing matters enormously. High tide brings the most impressive displays, while low tide reveals the rocky platform but dulls the drama. Early morning light catches the spray beautifully, and you'll likely have the place to yourself. The whole experience takes about an hour including the walk from the nearest parking.

If you're staying at one of the holiday parks around Pentewan or East Crinnis, it makes a lovely coastal walk extension. Charlestown's historic harbour is just a short drive away, making this an easy add-on to a day exploring the area's maritime heritage.
