The woodland itself is free to access with no formal entrance or facilities, so bring your own water and shoes with decent grip.

The honest truth is Shaw Wood won't set your world on fire. It's not Sherwood, no dramatic vistas open up, and the Lincolnshire Wolds views you came for are behind you. But if you want somewhere genuine to stretch your legs and let the children burn off energy among real trees, it does the job without fuss. Sometimes that's enough.
