Shenley Park

A proper working nature reserve just outside Borehamwood, Shenley Park is the sort of place locals know well but visitors often miss entirely. The reserve manages wetland and grassland habitats - nothing dramatic, but genuinely good for spotting birds and insects if you time it right. There's a network of paths threading through the site, and on a decent day you'll see woodpeckers, treecreepers, and if you're lucky, the occasional sparrowhawk cutting across the open ground.
