Snugburys

Snugburys is an ice cream parlour and farm shop rolled into one, sat just outside Nantwich in Cheshire. It's the sort of place that looks deceptively simple from the road but actually does proper business - locals queue here, which is always a good sign. You get proper ice cream made on-site, plus a decent farm shop stocking local produce, deli bits, and the kind of stuff you'd actually want to eat rather than tourist tat.

The ice cream is genuinely good. They do classics and seasonal flavours, and it's worth trying something beyond vanilla if you're feeling adventurous. The farm shop side means you can grab supplies for picnics if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Little Ranch Glamping or Oakwood Campsite - both within a few miles.

It's a quick stop rather than a destination in itself. Allow 20 minutes, maybe 45 if you're lingering with a cone and the kids are being indecisive about flavours. Families will get a kick out of it, especially on warm days. It's not free - you're paying for ice cream - but prices are fair and the quality justifies it.

Fit it in as a pit stop during a wider Cheshire exploration. Nantwich itself is a proper market town worth a wander, so you could easily make an afternoon of it. Best visited on a decent day when ice cream actually appeals rather than on a rainy Tuesday in November.
