Squirrel Coppice

The woodland near Kenilworth is proper dense - tall oaks and birches creating a canopy so thick you'll lose the sky for decent stretches. Walking through Squirrel Coppice feels like stepping back from the main paths entirely, though it's accessible enough that you won't need specialist gear.

What's here is straightforward: woodland trails winding between mature trees, the occasional clearing, and yes, actual squirrels if you're lucky enough to spot them. It's the kind of place where the appeal is the walking itself rather than a specific viewpoint or feature. The air feels different in there - damper, quieter. You get it.

Families with younger kids might find it a bit samey after half an hour or so unless they're committed nature types. Walkers and people after a proper woodland ramble will get far more from it. The canopy cover makes it decent even in lighter rain, though muddy patches can be grim in winter.

No visitor facilities that I'm aware of - just trees and paths. Allow an hour or two depending on how far you fancy exploring. It works well as part of a broader Kenilworth walk rather than a standalone trip.

If you're based at Mousley House Farm just a few miles away, this could easily slot into a morning before heading elsewhere. The Midlands has enough parks and attractions nearby that you'd want to mix things up rather than spending a whole day here, but as a proper break from the campsite without driving far, it does the job.
