St Gennys Church

The church sits on a quiet lane outside Bude, and you'll know you've found it when the hedgerows open up and that squat stone tower comes into view. St Gennys is a proper working parish church with the kind of weathered charm that speaks to centuries of Cornish worship - nothing grand, nothing touristy, just honest medieval stonework doing what it's meant to do.

Inside, the light filters through original windows and there's a real sense of time having passed here. The building itself is the draw rather than any single feature - it's the sort of place where you spend twenty minutes quietly absorbing the atmosphere, reading the brass plaques, and feeling genuinely grateful you're not visiting some honey-pot tourist trap.

History enthusiasts will appreciate the medieval bones of the place, and walkers using the coastal paths inland can easily swing past without much detour. It's not a destination in itself - you won't spend more than half an hour here - but as part of a broader Bude holiday it slots in nicely.
