St. James's Church

The church sits right in Garstang's town centre, a proper Lancashire landmark that's been holding the community together since medieval times. It's genuinely impressive without being showy about it.

Worth a stop if you're into church architecture or just fancy a breather during a walk around town. The exterior's photogenic too, especially from the churchyard where you get good views down the main street. Allow half an hour maximum unless you're the type who reads every plaque.

It works brilliantly as part of a broader Garstang day out. The town's compact enough to walk round properly, and you could easily pair this with the nearby parks - Claylands and Moss Wood are both under two miles away, making it a convenient stop before heading back to base. Aim for a quieter weekday morning if you want the place to yourself. Free to enter, and you can pretty much turn up whenever the doors are open, though popping in during a service obviously isn't ideal.
