St Peter's sits on Retford's high street, a proper medieval church that catches you off guard with how substantial it is. The interior is genuinely impressive - high ceilings, decent stained glass, and that particular hushed feeling you only get in old churches where things have mattered for centuries.

It's worth a proper look if you're already wandering round Retford town centre, though I wouldn't say it's a destination in itself. The bell tower is notable and the chancel's well-kept. You'll spend twenty minutes here, maybe half an hour if you're the type to read every plaque. History enthusiasts and anyone with an eye for medieval architecture will find something to appreciate. Families with restless kids? Less so - there's not much to do beyond look.

Getting in is free, though opening hours seem variable depending on who's got the keys that day. Worth checking locally when you arrive. If you're staying at Trentfield Farm just down the road, it's an easy stroll into town for a bit of culture after fresh air and countryside. The walk takes ten minutes, bit of a hill back up though.

Retford itself is pleasant enough - proper Georgian town vibes, decent independent shops, a few cafes. St Peter's anchors the place architecturally. Not life-changing, but solid and worth the twenty minutes if you're in the area.
