Stoer Church

Historybuffs will appreciate the medieval roots, though there's not masses of signage explaining it all. The appeal lies in the authenticity - no visitor centre, no café, just a working parish church that happens to be very old. Give it thirty minutes, maybe an hour if you're the type who likes to sit quietly and absorb the atmosphere.

It's not a standalone day out. Rather, it fits neatly into a coastal loop around Assynt when you're based near Lochinver or at Clachtoll - combine it with a beach walk and you've got a proper morning's exploring.
