Stony Hill

Stony Hill sits just outside Warlingham and gives you a proper vantage point across the Surrey Hills - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day it's genuinely worth the short walk up. The summit itself is modest; you're looking at maybe 300 metres or so of elevation, which means even families with younger kids can manage it without complaint. The views sweep south across the Weald, and if you time it right, you catch the light hitting the landscape in that golden hour way that makes you understand why people move to Surrey in the first place.

It's free, naturally, and takes about 45 minutes to an hour from car to top and back down again. Bring decent shoes - the path gets muddy after rain and the approach isn't as well-maintained as some of the bigger peaks nearby. This is very much a local's hill rather than a destination attraction; you do it because you're already in the area, not because you've travelled specifically for it.

If you're based at one of the caravan parks clustered around here - Milberry Green Meadows or Chapel Farm are closest - then absolutely factor this in. It breaks up a morning nicely and connects you to the wider network of Surrey walks without the crowds you'd get at Leith Hill or Box Hill. Walkers will appreciate it as part of a longer ramble rather than a standalone thing. Kids are fine with it; the actual summit isn't fenced or precarious, just open and windy.
