About Swim Coots
This is mainly for hardy swimmers who fancy a dip without the amusement arcades. Families with young kids will find it too basic - no lifeguards, no amenities, and the access can be boggy depending on the season. But if you're staying at Waxham Sands or Golden Beach and want a break from the beach, it's a decent alternative on a hot day.
The lake works best as a morning swim rather than a destination in itself. Allow 30 minutes to get in and out, maybe an hour if you're having a proper session. Summer is the obvious choice, though even then the water stays bracing. There's a walking route around the perimeter if you fancy stretching your legs after the swim, and it's close enough to Great Yarmouth that you could combine it with proper attractions if you're stuck for a rainy day plan.
Worth checking conditions before you go - it's not lifeguarded and can get weedy. Stick to it if you know what you're doing in water; skip it otherwise.
