Teddy's farm

You'll find Teddy's Farm just outside Lymington, a proper working farm that's been going for generations. It's the sort of place where kids can actually get hands-on with animals rather than just looking through a fence - there's a real mix of creatures dotted about the place, and the whole operation feels genuinely lived-in rather than artificially set up for visitors.

What makes it tick is the authenticity. This isn't a theme park masquerading as farming. You're watching actual farm life unfold, which means it can be a bit hit-and-miss depending on what animals are about and what time of day you show up. Best suited to families with younger children who haven't yet tired of petting animals and wandering around muddy enclosures. Older kids might find an hour enough, unless they're genuinely keen on farm work.

The farm sits well within a loose loop of campsites - Roundhill and Setthorns are both within a couple of miles, while Hollands Wood and the New Forest options give you proper woodland alternatives if you want something quieter. It's decent for breaking up a New Forest holiday, though I'd ring ahead to check what's on and when, as farm routines aren't always visitor-friendly.

Bring a change of clothes. The paths get muddy. And don't expect Instagram-ready facilities - it's a working farm, not a destination attraction.
