The Coombes

The Coombes is a proper woodland walk just outside Market Drayton, the sort of place where you actually feel like you've stepped away from things rather than just wandered round a park for twenty minutes. Ancient beech and oak trees tower overhead, and the paths wind through ravines that feel genuinely wild - steep-sided valleys that make you wonder how on earth the ground got so sculpted.

Walkers will love it. There's real elevation change here, proper ups and downs rather than a flat loop, and the tree coverage means it's brilliant even when it's drizzling - the canopy does most of the work keeping you reasonably dry. Families with older kids (say eight upwards) will find it engaging enough, though there's no playground or anything, just trees and paths.
