The Grove

The Grove is a proper woodland walk just outside Felixstowe, the sort of place locals know well but visitors often miss entirely. It's not dramatic or particularly large, but it does what it promises - a stretch of forest with paths through the trees, decent for stretching your legs if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Felixstowe Beach or Suffolk Sands.

What you get is straightforward: woodland paths, some open spaces, and a bit of green relief from the coastal flatness. It's the kind of place where kids will happily run ahead for an hour, and walkers can cover the trails without breaking a sweat. There's nothing fancy about it - no visitor centre, no café, no sculpture trail - just trees and paths. That's either brilliant or boring depending on what you're after.

Best visited on a dry day when the paths aren't waterlogged. Allow an hour or so if you're doing a full circuit, less if you just fancy a quick wander. It works well if you're camped at Peewit Caravans or one of the other spots dotted around the area and want a break from the beach or sitting by the caravan. Families with younger children will get more out of it than teenagers; serious walkers might find it a bit tame.

Getting there is easy enough from Felixstowe itself - it's practically on your doorstep. Free to walk round, no gates or admission charges that we're aware of. Worth the trip? Only if you need woodland, frankly.
