The Range

The Range in Holyhead is a sprawling retail warehouse that catches plenty of visitors off guard - it's far bigger than you'd expect for a high street name. Walk in and you'll find yourself navigating aisles of homeware, garden furniture, outdoor kit, and seasonal stock that seems to multiply with the seasons. It's the sort of place where you can waste a solid two hours picking through everything from camping gear to Christmas decorations, especially if you're the type who enjoys a good rummage.

Families often pop in while staying at one of the nearby parks - Two Peas in a Pod and Coastal Pods are both within walking distance - and there's genuine appeal if you've forgotten something for the caravan or need a last-minute inflatable for the beach. The garden section is decent year-round, and prices tend to undercut the high street. On a rainy Welsh afternoon, it's actually quite useful.

That said, don't expect a destination experience. This is practical shopping, not entertainment. Kids will lose interest after twenty minutes unless they're obsessed with garden gnomes. Worth a visit if you're genuinely after something specific, especially bedding or outdoor equipment for your stay. Just north of Holyhead's main drag, it's easy to reach and parking's generous - rare enough in Wales to mention. Allow an hour if you're browsing, half that if you know what you want.
