Three Corner Covert

Three Corner Covert is a proper woodland walk tucked away near Cardigan in Ceredigion, and it's the sort of place that rewards you for bothering to find it. The forest canopy here is dense enough that you'll feel properly removed from the world within minutes of entering, despite being only a few miles from town.

It's a forested area rather than a formal attraction with facilities, so come prepared. The walking trails wind through mixed woodland - oak, ash, and conifers - with enough variation that you won't feel like you're just trudging the same path twice. Family groups with reasonably confident walkers will find it manageable; the terrain isn't treacherous, though it can get muddy. Young kids might lose interest after an hour or so unless they're the type who enjoy spotting birds and insects.

There's no admission charge and no set opening times - you're essentially accessing woodland that's there to be walked through. Budget a couple of hours if you want to explore properly rather than dash through. Spring and autumn are genuinely the best times to visit; winter gets waterlogged and summer can feel a bit thick and airless under the canopy.

If you're based at Cardigan Camping and Touring Caravan Site or Happy Campers Family Park nearby, this makes an excellent half-day outing to break up a holiday. It's not a destination in itself, but as part of exploring the quieter corners of Ceredigion, it's well worth the detour.
