The bridge itself is the thing here - a Victorian iron structure spanning the chasm below Tintagel Castle. You're not just looking at engineering; you're standing on the spot where medieval legend collides with industrial Victorian ambition. The view down into the gorge is genuinely unsettling in the best way possible, especially when the wind picks up and reminds you how exposed you are.

Walkers and history enthusiasts will get the most from this. It's not a destination in itself - more a dramatic vantage point you reach after climbing up from the castle or village. Twenty minutes here gives you plenty of time to take in the drop, snap the photos everyone else is taking, and contemplate how they built this thing without modern equipment. The light is particularly good in late afternoon, when the stone changes colour.

Bodmin is the nearest proper town, though you'll be basing yourself closer to the coast for this one. If you're staying at Rosebud Farm Touring Park - a good adult-only spot about four and a half miles away - you could easily work this into a morning circuit with the castle itself. The bridge is free to cross, though you'll pay to visit the castle ruins nearby. Allow an hour total if you're doing both.

It's worth the walk, but don't expect solitude. The bridge draws crowds, particularly in summer holidays. Go early or late in the day if you want breathing room.
