Touch Down

The beach at Touch Down isn't on every tourist's radar, which is partly why it's worth the visit. It's a proper working beach - fishing boats, nets, the lot - rather than the manicured seaside experience you might expect. Located right in Swansea itself, it's genuine waterfront rather than resort polish.

You get a real mix here. Walkers will appreciate the coastal path access and the views back across the bay. Kids can splash about in the shallows, hunt for crabs in the rock pools, and watch the working boats come and go - there's something magnetic about that for young ones. The beach itself is sand and shale, so bring proper shoes if you're planning to potter around.

Practically speaking, access is straightforward from central Swansea, and there's no entry fee. Give yourself a couple of hours to properly explore, longer if you're the type to sit with a coffee and people-watch. Summer weekends get busy; if you prefer a quieter experience, visit on a weekday or out of season.

If you're staying at Swansea Marina Tourer Park, you're basically on its doorstep - could hardly be more convenient. Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park is further out towards Gower, but still close enough for a morning trip. This works well as part of a wider Swansea waterfront walk rather than as a full-day destination on its own.
