The wood itself is free to explore, which is the main appeal. There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared - bring a map or download one beforehand, wear proper shoes, and don't expect a café at the end. Walkers get the most out of it, particularly those who fancy an hour or two of genuine woodland wandering without the fuss. Parents with younger kids will find it entertaining enough for a morning, though it's not a destination that holds your attention all day. The forest floor changes through the year, so spring and autumn are particularly good for a wander.

It works well as part of a broader park holiday in Kent. Broadhembury Caravan & Camping Park is barely over a mile away, making it perfect for a quick walk before breakfast or after dinner. Even from the glamping options further out - Wildside or Wood View Farm are both within reasonable reach - it's a genuine addition to your itinerary rather than something to tick off. The surrounding area has other walks, but Towns Wood itself is worth the visit if you're staying nearby.
